Curriculum

|
At Hayle Academy we are committed to giving the children a first class education in all areas of learning: language, mathematics, science, technology, humanities, art, music and physical education. Small class sizes, specialist teachers and the family atmosphere all combine to help produce an environment where the children can embrace learning. Excellent exam results are expected and important, but education at Hayle Academy is about teaching the children to be self motivated, to think for themselves, to have opinions, and to research with a spirit of genuine curiosity and independence within a supportive environment. We aim to give children the confidence and the appetite to learn for themselves and our small classes and individual approach will enable them to achieve this. Boys and girls typically enter Hayle Academy into year 3, following interview, but entry is welcomed in any of the years 3 to 6. |
The primary phase will include daily literacy and maths lessons, which are taught in age related and meaningful units, often linked to topics studied in other areas. As there is so much to pack in each day, it is essential that this should be as succinct as possible and cross curricular teaching is a fun and child centred way of accessing all that the National Curriculum has to offer, and more. Parents will be closely informed of their child’s progress through regular reports and contact between school and home. Indeed, a close partnership between home and school will be encouraged, where parental knowledge can be shared with educational expertise.
A range of extra activities is on offer to all the students. We would encourage children to participate in a variety of activities to supplement their academic program. What goes on outside the classroom plays a vital part in a child’s enjoyment of life and all-round development. At Hayle Academy we are committed to nurturing talent and fostering team spirit through a range of activities/sports and establishing positive links with the community. |
